This beautiful act of love was witnessed by Spring Herbison Bowlin. Here's the stunning act of humanity that unfolded at Walmart:
My heart was warmed at Walmart during lunch.
This gentleman's items were scanned and he was given the total. He looked apologetically back at me (I was standing behind him in line) and starts taking handfuls of change out of his pockets.
He miscounts and starts to get flustered. Gives me a muttered, "I'm so sorry."
His hands and voice are shaking.
This beautiful cashier takes his hands and dumps all the change on the counter and says, "This is not a problem, honey. We will do this together."
He continues to apologize to both of us as we reassure him it's ok. They get his transaction handled and he shuffles away.
I looked at this wonderful woman and said, "Thank you for being so patient with him."
She shakes her head and replies, "You shouldn't have to thank me, baby. What's wrong with our world is we've forgotten how to love one another."
I want to be more like her.
I Want To Be More Like Her Too
I always try to always be kind, but I often I miss the mark. Sometimes I'm so wrapped in my own needs that I fail to see what others need.
The cashier's words are so wise, "we've forgotten how to love one another". That's so true, and very sad.
This story illustrates the power of a simple act of kindness. Most times, it doesn't even cost anything to be kind. It just takes a bit of humanity, empathy for our fellow humans.
Kindness is always top of mind here at Shoe Sprinkles.
Many of our products contain hearts, the eternal symbol of love and kindness. Fuzzy heart socks are one of our favorites.
Your Turn . . .
What did you think of Spring's story?
